Division 3 should go down to the very last week of the season this outdoor, with three teams fighting in earnest for top spot and Toon Town all but mathematically out of the running. Most pundits are favouring Fulchester to pip Deportivo and Arauco to the finishing line but Fulchester Manager Kev Brown isn't so sure. 4:20 FC will have a big say in where the title ends up this year as they play the big three in their remaining three games of the season.
Fulchester have scored twenty goals in their last two games and are keeping the pressure firmly on Arauco and Deportivo. PPG were the first team to be dismissed, last Thursday as Kev Brown backstopped Fulchester to a 9-5 win. It was then the turn of Paladins, who fielded a short bench yet again in an 11-0 drubbing by Fulchester, including two goals from keeper-turned-striker Dan Clegg.
Fulchester veteran Kev Brown gifted a point to Arauco when the two sides met last week and Will Godoy was sent off in what was another heated battle between the two rivals. Deportivo were shocked by Arsenix, PPG kept their impressive recent form while La Familia and 4:20 put on a 12-goal feast which ended tied. In the other game of the week Paladins were downed by a surprisingly small margin of 4-1 by Toon Town.
Fulchester have now won back to back games against two on-paper contenders as they head into the biggest game of the year so far. Arauco had to dig deep to find a late equaliser in possibly the biggest shock of the season so far. A 2-2 draw with the erratic 4:20FC was not what the division leaders were looking for as Fulchester capitolised on that mistake, routing a short-handed MDFL 9-1.
Dan Clegg broke the club record for consecutive clean sheets in only his 23rd game for the club as Arsenix were the latest team to come up against the the Great White Wall on Thursday night. The expansive Weaver Park was the venue for a 7pm kickoff as two full-strength teams locked horns in the game of the night with Fulchester scoring the only goal of the game to continue their excellent start to the season. Elsewhere, PPG shrugged off their early season blues in spectacular fashion as they defied the bookmakers to knock 8 past Paladins in an 8-1 win while Toon Town beat Deprtivo 4-0 in a game littered with more cards for the away side.
