Wounded exorcise Demons

Fulchester Walking Wounded appear to have righted what appeared to be a sinking ship, as they have rattled of 3 straight victories, capped by a team record 11-2 demolition of Blue Demons. Wounded have seen a true roller-coaster season as they started off in scintillating form, before going in to a worryingly long slump at the start of the New Year, before returning to their early season form in recent weeks.

W2 - Round 3 Preview

The action gets underway Tuesday night in round 3 this week. The first game of the evening sees the Prairie Fairies (2-0-0) taking on the Riviera Hawks (0-0-2) at 8:30 on Field 3. The Prairie Fairies are off to a good start this year as the addition of strong goalkeeper Dionne Wilkinson to the old Hangover squad seems to be working out well. Recent reports have claimed that Kaya De Souza has suffered from a broken wrist that will no doubt keep her out of this weeks match. One can only speculate as to how much impact her absence in the midfield will have on the Fairy squad. The Hawks on the other hand, come into this match hungry for, thus far, elusive points. As last indoor season saw them wait until their 7th game to put a W down beside their name, Melinda Melnyk will have to be on top of her game in net in order to slow the Fairies down.

Fairies Prepare for Changes

Although the ladies of Prairie Fairies have yet another win under their belt, the previous match left much to be desired. From the poor quality of reffing to an injury that resulted, there was a lot that should have been different about the game. With that said, Fairies will see some changes to their lineup on Tuesday evening.

Much-Hyped Contest Delivers

Fulchester I ended their miserable four-game winless skid against President’s Cup champions Das Boots with an excellent 6-4 win on Tuesday night. The crowd of around 70 people was treated to as good a game of football as Division 2 has produced in many seasons. Not since the playoffs of two years ago has a crackling energy been felt around a league game in the lower divisions.

Prestige Humbled

Sunday night the Division 2 Fulchester squad took to the field against a high-powered Prestige United team. Last year’s Division 1 scoring champ, Jay Tomchuk, was hoping to lead the way and keep Prestige undefeated on the season. Fulchester had other plans and knew that they would need to contain the star forward to seal a victory and continue their winning ways.

Prairie Fairies Determined To Keep Flight

Although there were many fairies seen last night due to Halloween, they were definitely nothing like the Fairies that will show themselves every week at the soccer centre. The name is new, but most of the players making up this team are not.

Wounded Storm Past Eclipse

Fulchester ladies maintained the clubs 100% start to the season Friday night with a thoroughly deserved 3-2 victory over one of the division’s early favorites, WD2 Eclipse. Outdoor division 5 champions Eclipse, came in to the game boasting the divisions leading scorer from outdoor Debra Zilkowsky up-front. Meanwhile, Wounded, who played Eclipse tough in every game bar one outdoor, saw the second phase of their goalkeeping three headed monster appear in the shape of star striker Kelly Tokarchuck, with previous player of the year Andrea Hawrysh returning to a more accustomed position in defence.

Fulchester Sign Utility Player

Fulchester supremo Kev Brown today confirmed that the club have gone over their intended roster size for the Division Three squad with the acquisition of Dave Stirling from Dandylyon. Stirling is primarily a goalkeeper who is also a solid forward, which means Fulchester add some depth to two positions with one signing.
